Abhrahaminte Santhathikal

പോലീസ് വേഷങ്ങള് എന്നും മമ്മൂട്ടിയുടെ ഹിറ്റ് കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളില്  തുറുപ്പുചീട്ടാണ്. അതു തന്നെയാണ് അബ്രഹാമിന്റെ
സന്തതിയിലെ ഡെറിക് അബ്രഹാം എന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തിലൂടെ മമ്മൂട്ടി പയറ്റുന്നത്. ഇടി, വെടി, കാര് ചേസിങ്,ബോളിവുഡ്
 ചിത്രങ്ങളെ വെല്ലുന്ന ഫൈറ്റ് സീനുകള് തുടങ്ങി തിയേറ്ററില് ആരാധകരെ ഇളക്കി മറിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാഘടകങ്ങളും കോര്ത്തിണക്കിയാണ്
 ഷാജി പാടൂര് ആദ്യ ചിത്രമൊരുക്കിയത്.
നിയമം തോല്ക്കുന്നിടത്താണ് അബ്രഹാമിന്റെ പുത്രന്ഡെറിക് അബ്രഹാം എന്ന പോലീസ് ഓഫീസര് കളത്തിലിറങ്ങുന്നത്.
രണ്ടു കുടുംബത്തിലെ ആറുപേര് അടുത്തടുത്ത ദിവസങ്ങളില് ഭീകരമായി വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. രാവും പകലും ബുദ്ധിയും ടെക്നിക്കുകളും
കൊണ്ട് പോലീസ് പ്രതിയെ കണ്ടെത്താന്വലവിരിച്ചു. എന്നിട്ടും മഴയുള്ള രാത്രിയില് ഇരുട്ടിന്റെ മറയില് അയാ വന്നു. പ്രതിയെ
പൂട്ടാന് ഡിപ്പാര്ട്ട്മെന്റ് ഡെറിക്കിനെ കേസ് ഏല്പ്പിക്കുമ്പോള്മുന്നില് പ്രതിസന്ധികള് ഏറെയായിരുന്നു. ആ സാഹസിക യാത്രയില്
 ഇരയോ വേട്ടക്കാരനോ ആയാലും അപകടം ഉറപ്പായിരുന്നു. ഒടുവില് ഡെറിക് വേട്ടക്കാരനാകാന് തീരുമാനിച്ചു. തുടര്ന്നുള്ള
 വര്ണപ്പകിട്ടുകളിലൂടെയാണ് ചിത്രം മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുന്നത്.
ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യപകുതി പോലീസ് ആക്ഷന് കഥയ്ക്ക് അപ്പുറത്ത് പോലീസ് ഫാമിലി സ്റ്റോറിയിലൂടെയാണ് കടന്നുപോകുന്നത്.
 ഓരോ കേസും ഏറ്റെടുക്കുമ്പോള് നിയമത്തിനു മുന്നില് അധികാരവും പദവിയും നോക്കാതെ മുന്നോട്ടുപോയ നിയമപാലകനായിരുന്നു
 ഡെറിക്. അതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നെ അകത്തും പുറത്തും ധാരാളം ശത്രുക്കളെ അയാള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി. ബുദ്ധിയിലും കരുത്തിലും മിടുക്കനായ
ഡെറിക്കിന്റെ വഴി പ്രവചനാതീതമാണ്. അതാണ് ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടാംപകുതിയിലെ സസ്പെന്സ്. രണ്ട് കഥകളിലൂടെയാണ്
ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യപകുതി മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുന്നത്. അതില് രണ്ടാമത്തെ കഥയാണ് ചിത്രത്തെ ക്ലൈമാക്സിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നത്.

എടുത്തുപറയാന് മഹനീയമായ കാര്യങ്ങളൊന്നുമില്ലെങ്കിലും ആക്ഷന്ചിത്രം പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ച് തിയേറ്ററിലെത്തുന്നവരെ ചിത്രം രസിപ്പിക്കും.
 ജോഷി, ഷാജി കൈലാസ്, രണ്ജി പണിക്കര് എന്നീ സംവിധായകരുടെ സഹസംവിധായകനായിരുന്ന ഷാജി പാടൂര് ആദ്യ സിനിമയില്
 ഈ ഗുരുജനങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം ഓരോ ഷോട്ടിലും ഓര്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. തഴക്കം വന്ന സംവിധായകന്റെ കയ്യടക്കം ഷാജി ചിത്രത്തില് കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഡെറിക് അബ്രഹാമിന്റെ സഹോദരനായെത്തിയ അന്സന് പോളിന്റെ ആദ്യചുവട് പിഴച്ചില്ല. ചിത്രത്തില് നിറഞ്ഞ് നില്ക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും
സിദ്ദിഖ്, രണ്;ജി പണിക്കര് ശ്യാമപ്രസാദ്, കലാഭവന് ഷാജോണ് താരുഷി, കനിഹ, സുരേഷ് കൃഷ്ണ, ഐ.എം. വിജയന് സിജോയ് വര്ഗീസ്
എന്നിവരുടെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങള് ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി.
ആല്ബിയുടെ ഛായാഗ്രഹണമാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഹൈലൈറ്റ്. പശ്ചാത്തലസംഗീതത്തിലൂടെ ചിത്രത്തെ ആവേശകരമായ തലത്തിലേക്ക്
 എത്തിക്കാന് ഗോപിസുന്ദറിനും കഴിഞ്ഞു. (അല്പം മിതത്വം കാണിച്ചെങ്കില് എന്ന് ചില സീനുകളില് തോന്നാതിരുന്നില്ല.)
 മലയാളത്തിലും തമിഴിലും ഇത്തരം കഥപറഞ്ഞ ധാരാളം ചിത്രങ്ങള് നമ്മള് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. പക്ഷേ, നവീന ആവിഷ്കാരമാണ്
 ചിത്രത്തെ പിടിച്ചുനിര്ത്തുന്നത്. ആഘോഷചിത്രം എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തില് മാത്രം നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് കണ്ണടച്ച് എഴുതിയ, പഴുത് അടയ്ക്കാത്ത
തിരക്കഥയാണ് ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഏക മൈനസ്.



“How do you know there won’t be another murder?” asks a media person to police officer Derick Abraham (Mammootty). And he responds, “I am sure that my dad’s name is Abraham.” Debutant Shaji Padoor’s Abrahaminte Santhathikal is a tale of two brothers of the same blood and character. Derick is a successful police officer who is the final word in every investigation. He handles even the toughest of cases that deal with tough criminals. When it comes to duty, no obstacle – be it relationships or sentiments - can stop him.

Fast forward three years and we see another Derick - a drunkard who has lost all hope in life, shattered by the fact that his brother Philip (Anson Paul) refuses to meet him in the prison, saying he is no one to him. What went behind the arrest of Philip and why he hates his elder brother makes the movie.

The film sees a Mammootty who acts his age. The scriptwriter Haneef Adeni has beautifully crafted a screenplay which not only has all the elements of Mammootty’s recent films but has a fantastic story as well. The actor looks handsome and heroic as well, as an action hero who is capable of handling ten goons all by himself. At times he seems superhuman but he is like any other human being when it comes to his brother and we see a helpless and weak man inside the daredevil. Anson Paul too has presented a fantastic performance and shows us that one more promising actor is in the making.

With an apt background score by Gopi Sunder, Haneef Adeni’s script has been made into a brilliant film by Shaji. The punchlines, though rare, leave the audience applauding sans inhibitions. The cinematography by Alby needs a mention; every frame is beautiful, with light and shadow playing against each other. The stunt sequences, especially the car chasing sequence between Derick and Philip, are well choreographed.

Every moment of this suspense thriller is gripping but if you expect another action film of Mammootty like Parole and Streetlight, you are in for a surprise. There is no superstar Mammootty here, but only Derick the police officer, and a caring brother. It looks like the scriptwriters have become intelligent enough to make the 'actor' in him the USP, without losing the beauty of their scripts.
On the whole, Abrahaminte Santhathikal is a suspense-investigative thriller that evokes occasional goosebumps, laughter, sadness and two hours eleven minutes of suspense.
