Good Newwz

Good Newwz Story:   When a couple trying to have a baby, are unable to conceive naturally, they decide to go for an IVF (in-vitro fertilization) procedure. But a mix up by their doctor leads to much confusion. Good Newwz Review:   Deepti (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Varun Batra (Akshay Kumar) are a posh, high-flying married couple, living in Mumbai and are much involved with their respective careers. Deepti also has her heart set on having a baby and after trying for a few years and then, some prodding by the family, both Varun and she decide to consult one of the best fertility specialists in the city. The doctor advises IVF and they are ready for it. Only hitch, few days after the procedure is through, Deepti and Varun are told there has been a sperm mix-up with another couple with the same last name. Enter 'the Batras from Chandigarh' into their lives. Honey (Diljit Dosanjh) and Monika (Kiara Advani) are a loud Punjabi couple and now it’s a complete clash of sensibiliti

Iddari Lokam Okate

Story:   Mahi (Raj Tarun) is a photographer who   cannot live life to the fullest extent   due to circumstances. Varsha (Shalini Pandey) is his   polar opposite , believing she was born to serve a purpose. What happens when they fall in love and   realise   they were always meant to be? Review:   Iddari Lokam   Okate   is the Telugu remake of the 2011 hit Turkish drama   AÅŸk   Tesadüfleri   Sever (Love Likes Coincidences).   Director GR Krishna tries hard to set this film apart from the typical love stories Tollywood has to offer, but with the kind of story the film aims to tell, there’s only so much he can do to tone down the   saccharine   sweetness and melodrama. Mahi (Raj Tarun) is a photographer, just like his father, and is an understated man who lives life by the day. He crosses paths with Varsha (Shalini Pandey), who’s the yin to his yang, and is a wannabe actress, just like her grandfather. She believes in living life to the fullest. The two keep crossing paths at vari

Mathu Vadalara

Story:   Babu (Sri Simha) and Yesu (Satya) are delivery agents whose company pays peanuts. Yesu gives Babu a plan to earn some extra money, but that lands him in big trouble. How will his friends save him now? Review:   A thriller in Telugu cinema is often left uncooked and leaves you with many unanswered questions, or worse, those answered in an illogical manner. But director Ritesh Rana's   Mathu Vadalara   is a film that will leave you satisfied. Right from the first shot, the film sticks to the story without meandering. The director deserves appreciation for picking such a story for his debut and dealing with it like a pro. Babu (Sri Simha) and Yesu (Satya) struggle to even pay their house rent with the money they make. But their plan to make more money lands Babu in trouble, bringing in Abhi (Naresh Agastya) to lend a helping hand. There's a heinous crime committed elsewhere, and the way Ritesh connects these dots shows how well he worked on the script. By the end of t

Pancharaaksharam

Pancharaaksharam Movie Synopsis:   Five friends playfully read passages of doom from a book that can predict an individual’s future. Can they overcome the tragedies that fate has in store for them and rewrite their destinies? Pancharaaksharam Movie Review:   Pancharaaksharam opens with an animated prelude, set in the 11th century Chola period, about the origins of an accursed book that was written to predict the reader’s future, but had to be kept hidden for all that came of it was doom. And it is this very book that five friends unfortunately pick to play a game. For Dushyanth (Santhosh Prathap), who calls himself a traveller, it spells harm from a Satanic child. For Sameera (Madhu Shalini), an aspiring writer, it predicts escape from a grievous situation – but only temporarily. Aidhan (Gokul), a musician, reads a passage that says his life will be in danger from the very art that he loves. The do-gooder Jeevika (Sana Althaf, whose dubbed voice doesn’t suit her) will come

v1

V1 Murder Case Movie Synopsis : An intelligent forensic officer starts investigating a murder, but he faces a slew of challenges as he suffers from nyctophobia. Will he be able to solve the case? V1 Murder Case Movie Review:   The challenge while writing a whodunit is to maintain the suspense element till the end with zero compromise on logical loopholes. There have been films made in the genre which started off promisingly, but failed to hold the attention as the sequences which unfold in the latter half couldn’t match the initial portions. V1 Murder Case, which features comparatively new faces, is the latest to join the list of such attempts. The film begins with the murder of a girl who was in a live-in relationship. Quite naturally, the investigation, led by Ram Arun Castro (Agni) and Vishnu Priya (Luna), begins with her partner and another guy who was after her. Agni is a nyctophobiac, and this poses a threat to him during the course of the investigation. There are some r

Naan Avalai Sandhitha Pothu

Naan Avalai Sandhitha Pothu, directed by LG Ravichander and starring Santhosh Pratap and Chandni Tamilarasan, is a film that is based on a true story. Set in the 1990s, the story begins with Moorthy (Santhosh Prathap), who is an aspiring filmmaker from Coimbatore working as Assistant director in Chennai. One day after work, he sees a woman sobbing after losing her way. He comes to know that she is Kumari (Chandini) who came to Chennai from her village near Mayavaram due to a family problem but has lost the address of her aunt’s house here. Moorthy advices her to go back to her village but Kumari insists him to come with her as she doesn’t know where to go in the new city. Situations force him to accompany her till Mayavaram and when he was about to return to Chennai, she gets abducted by drunkards. Moorthy fights with them and saves her. He decides to leave her safely in her village. However situations take a turn as the villagers assume Moorthy as Kumari’s lover and d

Sillu Karupatti

There is a great amount of tenderness in   Sillu Karupatti , which you wouldn’t normally find in Tamil movies. It is there in the writing; in the performances, in the frames (cinematography is by Abinandhan Ramanujam, Manoj Paramahamsa, Vijay Karthik and Yamini Yagnamurthy), in the music (by Pradeep Kumar, whose violin riff adds a pleasant tone to the movie). Writing a love story may seem like a convenient approach, however,   Sillu...   is a story about love. Looking from a broader perspective, what is love? It is about returning a gift to your childhood crush; it is about bonding with a stranger on a cab ride, it is about rediscovering love in the time of diabetes, it is about switching off your ego issues in marital life. Above all, it is about living the moment. Love, in theory, is like an ocean and its vastness is what Halitha Shameem tries to capture through four shorts — each of which deals with different phases of life (like last year’s heart-rending Telugu indie,
