Race 3

यह 'रेस' जिंदगी की रेस है, किसी की जान लेकर ही खत्म होगी। फिर चाहे वह दर्शकों की जान ही क्यों न हो! इतने सारे सितारों की फिल्म में आप कुछ मज़ेदार देखने की उम्मीद लगाते हैं, लेकिन अफसोस कि आपको निराशा ही हाथ लगती है। रेस फिल्म की पिछली दोनों हिट फ्रैंचाइजी के बाद इस बार रेस की स्टारकास्ट काफी बदल गई है। पिछली फिल्मों से सिर्फ अनिल कपूर ही ऐसे हैं, जो इस बार भी रेस में हैं, जबकि जैकलीन फर्नांडिस 'रेस 2' के बाद 'रेस 3' में भी हैं। वहीं डायरेक्टर अब्बास-मस्तान की बजाय 'रेस 3' को रेमो डिसूजा ने डायरेक्ट किया है। आपको बता दें कि इस 'रेस 3' का पिछली दोनों फिल्मों से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। 

फिल्म की कहानी शमशेर सिंह (अनिल कपूर ) से शुरू होती है, जो करीब 25 साल पहले भारत से एक साजिश का शिकार होकर अल शिफा आइसलैंड आ जाता है। वह अवैध हथियारों का डीलर है। उसके बड़े भाई रणछोड़ सिंह का बेटा सिकंदर (सलमान खान) उसका दायां हाथ है। बड़े भाई की एक एक्सिडेंट में मौत के बाद शमशेर ने अपनी भाभी से शादी कर ली थी, जिससे उसके दो जुड़वा बच्चे सूरज (साकिब सलीम) और संजना (डेजी शाह) हैं। फिल्म का एक और किरदार यश (बॉबी देओल) सिकंदर का बॉडीगार्ड है। वहीं जेसिका (जैकलीन फर्नांडिस) पहले सिकंदर की गर्लफ्रेंड थी, लेकिन फिर वह यश के साथ आ जाती है। 
सिकंदर अपनी फैमिली के लिए जान देता है, लेकिन उसके सौतेले भाई-बहन उससे नफरत करते हैं। वे यश को भी भड़का कर अपनी ओर मिला लेते हैं। शमशेर वापस अपने वतन भारत जाना चाहता है और किस्मत से उसे एक मौका मिल जाता है। उसके इस मिशन को पूरा करने सिकंदर के साथ सूरज, संजना, यश और जेसिका कंबोडिया जाते हैं, जहां सूरज, संजना और यश मिलकर सिकंदर को फंसा देते हैं, लेकिन वह जेसिका की मदद से बच निकलता है। उसके बाद खुलते हैं कई ऐसे राज़ जिन्हें जानने के लिए आपको सिनेमा देखना होगा। 

सलमान खान ने फिल्म में सैफ अली खान की जगह ली है। बेशक, वह काफी स्मार्ट लग रहे हैं और उन्होंने कई अच्छे ऐक्शन सीन भी किए हैं, लेकिन सैफ के चाहने वाले रेस में उन्हें जरूर मिस करेंगे। ईद पर सलमान खान के फैन्स को भाई के जबर्दस्त ऐक्शन की डोज चाहिए होती है। उनके लिए शुरुआत और आखिर में कुछ सीन हैं, लेकिन कहानी के लेवल पर फिल्म एकदम बकवास है। फिल्म आगे बढ़ने के साथ आप उम्मीद करते हो कि अब कुछ होगा, अब कुछ होगा, लेकिन तब तक दो घंटे बीत चुके होते हैं। खासकर फिल्म का फर्स्ट हाफ देखकर आप खुद को लुटा-पिटा महसूस करते हो। सेकंड हाफ में जरूर कुछ ट्विस्ट हैं, लेकिन ऐसे नहीं कि आपको रोमांचित करे। समझ नहीं आता कि दो घंटे की फिल्मों के दौर में रेमो डिसूजा ने पौने तीन घंटे की फिल्म बनाने का रिस्क क्यों लिया। 

बाकी कलाकारों की अगर बात करें, तो अनिल कपूर हमेशा की तरह लाजवाब हैं। वहीं जैकलीन और डेजी शाह ने ठीक-ठाक स्टंट सीन किए हैं। साकिब सलीम ने अपने रोल को निभा भर दिया है। लंबे समय बाद स्क्रीन पर वापसी करने वाले बॉबी देओल ने शर्ट उतार कर जरूर कुछ ऐक्शन सीन किए हैं, लेकिन उनका भाव हीन चेहरा ऐक्टिंग के मामले में उनका साथ नहीं देता। वहीं विलन का रोल करने वाले फ्रेडी दारूवाला ने पता नहीं यह फिल्म साइन ही क्यों की है। रेस फैमिली में खुद ही इतने विलन हैं कि उनके लिए कोई स्कोप ही नहीं है। वहीं फिल्म के कलाकारों को भोजपुरी में बात करते देख कर भी आपको हैरानी ही होगी। इलाहाबाद से आए शमशेर की तो फिर भी बात समझ में आती है, लेकिन पेईचिंग में पला-बढ़ा सिकंदर क्यों भोजपुरी में बात करता है, यह समझ नहीं आता। 

हालांकि फिल्म की सिनेमटॉग्रफी लाजवाब है। बैंकॉक और अबू धाबी की बेहतरीन लोकेशंस पर की गई फिल्म की शूटिंग बेशक आपको पसंद आएगी। वहीं 3डी में ऐक्शन और फाइट सीन भी अच्छे लगते हैं। लेकिन एक-दो को छोड़कर बाकी गाने फिल्म में जबरदस्ती ठूंसे हुए लगते हैं। खासकर सेल्फिश सॉन्ग तो समझ से परे है। हालांकि निर्माताओं ने आखिर में साफतौर पर सीक्वल की गुंजाइश छोड़ी है। ध्यान रहे कि यह फिल्म सिर्फ और सिर्फ सलमान के फैन्स के लिए है, जो दिल में आते हैं समझ में नहीं। बाकी दर्शक अपने रिस्क पर फिल्म देखने जाएं। 

The Race franchise is known for its excessively stylized characters and high-octane action. These films showcase expensive cars and fancy set pieces, they have everything to please the an action movie buff and James Bond fans. ‘Race 3’ puts the pedal to the metal when it comes to making stylish statements. But as it zooms ahead in style, the substance is left behind in a cloud of dust.

This film is about a rich family dealing with a lot of double crossing and scheming, as you’d expect from a film of this franchise. The Singh family is executing a high stake heist, where they have to steal a hard disk from a bank, so the setup looks like it's going to have a lot of thrills and action. But the generous dose of action never translates into any serious thrills because the story is so flimsy. To say that the film has a wafer thin plot is an understatement. Unlike the action, the script lacks any real punch as the story does not engage the viewer at all. Trailer of the film had sparked off a bevy of memes on social media and when you watch the film you realise there are more such dialogues like, ‘Our business is our business, none of your business’ and that makes you wonder what the writers were thinking.

What redeems the tissue-thin plot is the larger-than-life action sequences. You have it all - car crashes, explosions, combats, cat-fights and wingsuit diving stunts. Yes, there's lot of smoke and fire, but no real steam - in the story or the performances. Most of the action scenes are in slo-mo, meant to heighten the drama and thrill obviously, but it often ends up making the scene a tedious watch. The best directed parts of the film are the songs, which look like elaborately designed music videos. The movie is mounted on a lavish canvas, and shot on some beautiful locales, but none of that holds your attention for more than a few minutes. It’s a visual delight to see a range of super cars in action, glamorous girls throwing kicks and punches, and of course, fans will relish the sight of Salman Khan and Bobby Deol ripping their shirts off to flaunt their well-greased and chiseled bodies.

There’s a star studded cast on offer so the fans will have plenty of moments to cheer for their favourite stars. Salman Khan leads the pack with the main role, and while he’s great with the action and the style, the character has very little depth. Anil Kapoor plays the father figure of the Singh family with ease. Bobby Deol and Daisy Shah are at their stylish best, too. Jacqueline Fernandez and Saqib Saleem look fantastic as well. ‘Race 3’ will work for Salman fans the most, as bhai kicks and punches with gusto. 

But for all its big moments, ‘Race 3’ just does not work up the feeling of suspense and intrigue that made the previous masala movies from the franchise a guilty pleasure. While the film wants to keep you guessing on who will finish the Race first, you are left wondering when you will cross the finish line.
