LILLI

She seems vulnerable and helpless in a moment but turns out to be a powerful and courageous woman in the next. 'Lilli' brushes aside the idea that pregnant women, let alone women, are weak and they can't survive in the society's underbelly.

Lilli (Samyuktha Menon) is pregnant and due for delivery in two weeks. One night after a broken phone conversation about her husband’s accident, she steps out of her home, only to be abducted by three men. She is trapped, and the men are here with a purpose. They would go to any extent to know the whereabouts of a little girl. For these men, violence is a way of life. The mystery about Lilli’s connection with the money and the girl they are chasing forms the storyline of the movie. 

Samyuktha Menon presents a power packed performance in her lead role. She sustains the emotional core of the movie with her beautiful portrayal of the mysterious Lilli. Directed by Prashobh Vijayan, the movie is well crafted, especially the shots from inside the room where Lilli was trapped. The light falling through a window pane which resembles a womb, a firefly flying over a helpless Lilli and the roots that have penetrated through the wall; all owe it to the technical team. Interesting sequences and flashbacks are narrated cleverly and effectively through excellent cinematography, sound design and editing along with decent acting of the cast. 

It's interesting to compare Lilli to another one-woman movie like Anushka Sharma’s NH10. The female-centric movie gives a message of hope for struggling women who are yet to release that there is an unsurpassable power inside them if they have the will to survive. However, the inclusion of demonetisation in the plot seemed unnecessary. 

Lilli is a survival drama that is high on violence, at times an overdose of it. Not everyone can stomach it but if you succeed, the film will get you thinking.




തുടക്കക്കാരനായ പ്രശോഭ് വിജയൻ എഴുതി സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന 'ലില്ലി' ത്രില്ലർ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ പെടുത്താവുന്ന ഒരു പരീക്ഷണ ചിത്രമാണ്. സംവിധായകൻ സ്വയം വിലയിരുത്തുന്ന പോലെ ഒരു 'സെൽഫ് ലേൺഡ് ' സിനിമാക്കാരൻ എന്ന നിലയിൽ ഇതുപോലൊരു പരീക്ഷണ സിനിമയെടുക്കാൻ കാണിച്ച മിടുക്കിനെ അഭിനന്ദിക്കാതെ വയ്യ. 

സാഡിസ്റ്റിക് സ്വഭാവത്തിലുള്ള ക്രൈം സീക്വൻസുകൾ നിറഞ്ഞു നിൽക്കുന്ന ചിത്രം പ്രദർശനത്തിനെത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് E4 എൻ്റർടൈൻമെൻ്റ്സിൻ്റെ ബാനറിൽ E4 എക്സ്പെരിമെൻ്റ്‍‍സാണ്. 'തീവണ്ടി' എന്ന തൻ്റെ ആദ്യ ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ മലയാളികളുടെ പരിചിതമുഖമായി മാറിയ സംയുക്ത മേനോൻ കേന്ദ്ര കഥാപാത്രത്തെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു

ഒരു പൂർണ ഗർഭിണിയുടെ സാധാരണ ജീവിത കാഴ്ച്ചകളോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രം തുടക്കത്തിൽ ഒരു ഫാമിലി സിനിമയുടെ പ്രതീതി ഉളവാക്കിയെങ്കിലും പൊടുന്നനെ കടുത്ത ഡോസിലുള്ള വയലൻസിലേക്കു മാറി. പിന്നീടങ്ങോട്ട് കഥയുടെ ഓരോ വളവിലും തിരിവിലും വയലൻസ് എലമെൻ്റ് ഇല്ലാത്ത സീനുകൾ വിരളമായിരുന്നു.

പൂർണ ഗർഭിണിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ തനിക്കും ജനിക്കാനിരിക്കുന്ന തൻ്റെ കുഞ്ഞിനും വേണ്ടി നടത്തുന്ന പോരാട്ടമാണ് നാം കാണുന്നതെങ്കിൽ രണ്ടാം പകുതിയോടെ ലില്ലിയുടെ മറ്റൊരു മുഖമാണ് സംവിധായകൻ പ്രേക്ഷകനു മുന്നിലെത്തിക്കുന്നത്.

പാശ്ചാത്യ സിനിമകളോടുള്ള ആരാധന കഥ പറയാൻ അവലംബിച്ച രീതിയിൽ ചിലയിടത്തൊക്കെ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി. അവസാനം വരെ സസ്പെൻസ് നിലനിർത്തയെങ്കിലും സാധാരണക്കാർക്കു കണ്ടിരിക്കാവുന്നതിലും അധികമായിരുന്നു പല സമയത്തും സിനിമയിലെ ക്രൈം എലമെൻ്റ്. അക്രമരംഗങ്ങളുടെ ആധിക്യം കാരണം 'എ ' സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രം കുട്ടികളെയോ ലോല ഹൃദയമുള്ളവരെയോ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതല്ല

കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾ ഏറെയില്ലാത്ത ചിത്രത്തിൽ ഉള്ളവരൊക്കെ ഭേദപ്പെട്ട പ്രകടനമാണ് കാഴ്ച്ചവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ധനേഷ് ആനന്ദ്, ആര്യൻ കൃഷ്ണ മേനോൻ, കെവിൻ, കണ്ണൻ നായർ ( s ദുർഗ ഫെയിം ) തുടങ്ങിയവരാണ് പ്രധാന വേഷങ്ങളിൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ലില്ലിയായി തകർപ്പൻ പ്രകടനമാണ് സംയുക്തയുടേത്. തുടക്കത്തിൽ സ്വല്പം മങ്ങിപ്പോയെങ്കിലും സിനിമയുടെ സ്വഭാവം മാറുന്നതോടു കൂടി സംയുക്തയുടെ ലില്ലി സ്‌ക്രീനിൽ നിറഞ്ഞാടി
