After his two-year-long break from Malayalam, during which he earned a name for himself in other industries, Dulquer Salmaan is back. Right from the outset, it was clear that he was keen to try something new in his comeback movie, ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’. And here's how it has fared.
The film is about a handful of 'katta’ friends who have been together since childhood. Lallu (Dulquer Salmaan) is the king of this group of 'low class’ youngsters, if you look at them through his dad's eyes. The good-looking fellow has received umpteen proposals from girls since childhood but as he says, he hasn't felt the spark yet. His family decides to get him married off, as his IT professional younger brother wants to get hitched. But, where to find this girl?
First things first. It’s a film primarily for Dulquer fans. His character, Lallu, is a wayward youth who is a daily wage painter, surrounded by comedy characters played by Soubin Shahir (Vicky), Vishnu Unnikrishnan (Teny) and Salim Kumar (Panchikuttan). It offers roars of laughter in many instances, but no highbrow comedy. The premise in itself might not be new, but the makers have managed to keep it quite entertaining.
The narrative takes a detour at times with certain songs delaying the story, but the tracks are good. Dulquer speaks in Kochi slang, dances to dappankuthu songs, is flanked by girls often and delivers comedy liners, all of them in a manner that would definitely be thrilling for a kunjikka fan. It also has what it takes to make the fans overlook its occasional flaws. Molly Kannammali, Soubin, Salim Kumar, Vishnu and Pradeep Kottayam immensely contribute to the many fun moments in the movie and they keep the audience interested. It also looks like many phrases from the film could pass into daily slang. The humour involving non-Malayali workers is also interesting.
The film's heroines hardly have any space to perform in the film, which is an out-and-out DQ show. A Tollywood feel is squeezed into many sequences, without much effect. Bibin George could have been better used as a villain in the movie which stretches on to 2 hours 40 minutes. Exhaustion seeps in at times, especially during songs and long stunts

അമര് അക്ബര് അന്തോണി, കട്ടപ്പനയിലെ ഋത്വിക് റോഷന് എന്നീ ചിത്രങ്ങള്ക്കുശേഷം ബിബിന് ജോര്ജും വിഷ്ണു ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണനും ചേര്ന്നൊരുക്കിയ തിരക്കഥതന്നെയാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഹൈലൈറ്റ്. മുന്ചിത്രങ്ങളെപോലെത്തന്നെ കട്ട ലോക്കല് തമാശകള്കൊണ്ട് സീനുകള് സമ്പന്നമാണ്. കഥയോട് ചേര്ന്നൊരുക്കിയ കോമഡിരംഗങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പ്രേക്ഷകരെ കൊണ്ടുപോയും അവിടങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം പൊട്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുള്ള വകയൊരുക്കിയുമാണ് ചിത്രം മുന്നോട്ടുനീങ്ങുന്നത്.
ഹിന്ദിയും തമിഴും തെലുങ്കുംകടന്ന് ഒന്നരവര്ഷത്തിനുശേഷം ദുല്ഖര് വീണ്ടും മലയാളത്തിലേക്ക് എത്തിയ ചിത്രം ആഘോഷച്ചേരുവകള് നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്. പാട്ടും നൃത്തവും ഉശിരന് സംഘട്ടനങ്ങളും വൈകാരിക പ്രകടനവുമെല്ലാം ചേര്ത്തുവെച്ച് ആദ്യവസാനം ഒരു യമണ്ടന് ദുല്ഖര് ഷോ തന്നെയാണ് സിനിമ.
കടമുക്കിടിയാണ് കഥയുടെ തട്ടകം. നാട്ടിലെ പ്രമാണിയായ കൊമ്പനായിലെ ജോണ്സാറിന്റെ മൂത്തമകനാണ് ലല്ലു. വലിയ തറവാട്ടില് പിറന്നിട്ടും തനി ലോക്കലായി പെയിന്റുപണിക്കാരന് ലല്ലുവിന്റെ വേഷത്തില് ഡിക്യു നിറഞ്ഞാടുന്നു. സംസാരത്തിലും പെരുമാറ്റരീതിയിലും വേഷവിധാനത്തിലുമെല്ലാം ദുല്ഖര് നിലവിലെ ഇമേജ് പാടെ തകര്ത്തെറിയുകയാണ്. തറവാടിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വം പേറി നാട്ടുകാരില്നിന്ന് അകന്നുകഴിയാതെ അവരിലൊരാളായി ജീവിതം ആഘോഷിച്ചും ആസ്വദിച്ചും പോകുന്ന ലല്ലുവിലൂടെയാണ് ചിത്രം മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുന്നത്. മനസ്സിന് സ്പാര്ക്കു നല്കുന്ന ജീവിതസഖിയെ തേടിയുള്ള ലല്ലുവിന്റെ അന്വേഷണവും അതിന്റെ പരിണാമവുമാണ് ഒരു യമണ്ടന് പ്രേമകഥയുടെ ഇതിവൃത്തം.
നായകന്റെ സുഹൃത് സംഘമായി ലല്ലുവിന്റെ ചാവേറുകളെന്നപേരിലെത്തുന്നവരാണ് കഥയില് ചിരിഅമിട്ടിന് തിരികൊളുത്തുന്നത്. പെയിന്റ് മേസ്തിരി പാഞ്ചിക്കുട്ടന്റെ വേഷത്തിലാണ് ഇത്തവണ സലിംകുമാറിന്റെ വരവ്. പ്യാരിയും സ്രാങ്കുംപോലെ ട്രോളന്മാര്ക്കെടുത്ത് അമ്മാനമാടാനുള്ള നമ്പറുകള് പാഞ്ചിക്കുട്ടനില് നിറയെയുണ്ട്. ലല്ലുവിന്റെ ആത്മമിത്രവും അന്ധഗായകനുമായി വിഷ്ണു ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണന് മികച്ച പ്രകടനംതന്നെ പുറത്തെടുത്തു. രൂപത്തിലും പ്രകടനത്തിലും ചിരി നിറച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് സൗബിന് ഓരോ സീനിലും വന്നുപോകുന്നത്. വാചകമടിയില്നിന്ന് മാറി നിശ്ശബ്ദമായ പ്രകടനംകൊണ്ടാണ് ഇത്തവണ ഹരീഷ് കണാരന് കൈയടി നേടുന്നത്.
സംയുക്താമേനോനും നിഖിലവിമലുമാണ് നായികാവേഷത്തില്. ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ രചയിതാവില് ഒരാളായ ബിബിന് തന്നെയാണ് വില്ലന്വേഷത്തില് എത്തുന്നത്. ചുരുങ്ങിയ രംഗങ്ങളില് വന്നുപോകുന്നുവെങ്കിലും സുരാജ് വെഞ്ഞാറമൂടിന്റെ ശക്തമായ പ്രകടനം പ്രേക്ഷകരെ ഒരിക്കല്ക്കൂടി അമ്പരപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ധര്മജന്, ദിലീഷ് പോത്തന്, അശോകന്, ബൈജു, രണ്ജിപണിക്കര്, ലെന... എന്നിങ്ങനെ താരസമ്പന്നമാണ് ചിത്രം.
ആന്റോ ജോസഫും സി.ആര്. സലീമും ചേര്ന്ന് നിര്മിച്ച ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ സംവിധാനം നവാഗതനായ ബി.സി. നൗഫലാണ്. നാദിര്ഷയും ബിജിബാലും ചേര്ന്നൊരുക്കിയ പാട്ടുകളുടെ രചന ഹരിനാരായണന്, സന്തോഷ് വര്മ നിര്വഹിക്കുന്നു. അവധിക്കാലത്ത് ചിരിച്ചാസ്വദിക്കാനായി തിയേറ്ററിലേക്കിറങ്ങുന്നവര്ക്ക് ഡി.ക്യു ചിത്രത്തിന് ധൈര്യമായി ടിക്കറ്റെടുക്കാം.
