First Rank Raju




       Raju (Chetan Maddineni) is an engineering student who is obsessed with academics and cares for nothing else. He is admired for being that way by his father, played by Naresh and the college principle, played by Posani Krishna Murali. Sruthi (Kashish Vohra) joins as a new entrant in the college and falls for his innocence, in the process of changing his attitude and being his friend. But that one-sided crush lands in a soup when Raju doesn't understand the relation she seeks and looks for solely academic benefits from her. For the first time Raju faces failure when he gets rejected for a position in a company, due to the lack of exposure outside academics. How he manages to normalise his life and succeed in that transformation forms the crux of the story.

Though the film is an official remake of the Kannada flick which released with the same title, it fails at every point in order to convince the audience with its message of how important it is for the parents and educational institutions to let the students follow their dreams rather than marking their progress solely on academic excellence. Filled with clichéd acting and comedy, the film is an incredibly tiresome and outdated journey to take. Chetan Maddineni's lack of acting skill stands as the biggest disappointment in the film. The song Yekaki, which sums up his transformation and experiences, is relaxing part in the entire boring drama.

First Rank Raju is a tedious ride that should be avoided.


కథ :చేతన్‌ మద్దినేని (రాజు) చిన్నప్పటి నుండి అతని తండ్రి కారణంగా బట్టి చదువులకు అలవాటు పడి పడి.. చివరికీ ‘విద్య 100% బుద్ధి 0%’ అనే స్థాయికి చేరుకుంటాడు. ఆ తరువాత జరిగే కొన్ని నాటకీయ పరిణామాల అనంతరం రాజు తన డ్రీంను కూడా నెరవేర్చుకోలేకపోతాడు. ఆ క్రమంలో జరిగిన కొన్ని సంఘటనల తరువాత రాజును పూర్తిగా మారుస్తానని ‘రాజు తండ్రి’ ఓ ఛాలెంజ్ చేస్తాడు. ఇంతకీ రాజు తండ్రి చేసే ఛాలెంజ్ ఏమిటి ? అసలు రాజు తండ్రి (సీనియర్ నరేష్)కి ఎందుకు రాజును అలా పెంచాల్సి వచ్చింది. దాని వల్ల రాజు జీవితంలో ఎలాంటి ఇబ్బందులు ఎదురుకున్నాడు. చివరికీ రాజు విద్య గురించి, జీవితం గురించి ఏం తెలుసుకున్నాడు ? లాంటి విషయాలు తెలియాలంటే ఈ చిత్రం చూడాల్సిందే.
ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :సినిమాలో స్టోరీ పాయింట్ చాలా బాగుంది. పైగా అన్ని రకాల కమర్షియల్ అంశాలను కలగలిపి దర్శకుడు ఈ సినిమాని మలచిన విధానం ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. ఇక హీరోగా నటించిన చేతన్‌ మద్దినేని పాత్రకు తగ్గట్లు లుక్స్ అండ్ నటన పరంగా కూడా ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. ముఖ్యంగా స్టూడెంట్ ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకునే సన్నివేశంలో, ఆలాగే ప్రీ క్లైమాక్స్ లో అలాగే కొన్ని కీలక సీన్స్ లో చేతన్‌ ఎంతో అనుభవం ఉన్న నటుడిలా బాగా నటించాడు.
ఇక హీరోయిన్ గా నటించిన కౌశిక్‌ ఓరా బాగా నటించడంతో పాటు అందంగా కనిపిస్తూ ఆకట్టుకుంది. హీరోకి తండ్రిగా నటించిన సీనియర్ నరేష్, మరో కీలక పాత్రలో నటించిన వెన్నెల కిశోర్ ఎప్పటిలాగే తమకు మాత్రమే సాధ్యమైన కామెడీ ఎక్స్ ప్రెషన్స్ , తమ శైలి మాడ్యులేషన్స్ తో సినిమాలో కనిపించనంత సేపూ నవ్విస్తారు. ఇక హీరో ఫ్రెండ్స్ గా నటించిన నటులు… అదేవిధంగా మిగిలిన నటీనటులు కూడా తమ పాత్రలకు న్యాయం చేశారు.
దర్శకుడు హీరో అమాయికత్వానికీ సంబంధించిన సన్నివేశాలను మరియు సీనియర్ నరేష్ హీరోను మార్చే సీన్స్ ను ఫన్నీగా మలిచే ప్రయత్నం చేయడం బాగుంది. 
మైనస్ పాయింట్స్:సినిమాలో స్టోరీ పాయింట్ బాగా ఆకట్టుకున్నా.. స్క్రీన్ ప్లే పరంగా మాత్రం సినిమా ఆకట్టుకునే విధంగా సాగలేదు. కథకు అవసరం లేని కామెడీ సీన్స్ ఎక్కువైపోయాయి. పైగా ఆ కామెడీ సీన్స్ కోసమని సినిమా లెంగ్త్ ని పెంచేయడం కూడా సినిమాకి మరో మైనస్ పాయింట్ గా నిలుస్తోంది.
మొత్తానికి సినిమాలో మొదటి భాగం సరదాగా సాగుతూ పర్వాలేదనిపించినప్పటికీ, రెండువ భాగం మాత్రం నెమ్మదిగా సాగుతుంది. దీనికి తోడు కొన్ని సన్నివేశాల్లో నాటకీయత ఎక్కువడంతో కథలో సహజత్వం లోపించింది. దర్శకుడు తానూ అనుకున్న కంటెంట్ ను స్క్రీన్ మీద బాగా ఎలివేట్ చేయలేకపోయారు. కంటెంట్ పరంగా మంచి భావోద్వేగాన్ని పండించే సన్నివేశాలు రాసుకునే అవకాశం ఉన్నా, దర్శకుడు సినిమాను సింపుల్ గా ముగించాడు.
సాంకేతిక విభాగం :దర్శకుడు నరేష్‌ కుమార్‌ విద్యా వ్యవస్థకి సంబంధించి మంచి కాన్సెప్ట్ ని తీసుకున్నారు. అయితే ఆ కాన్సెప్ట్ ని తెర మీద చూపెట్టడంలో కొంత తడబాటు పడ్డాడు. శేఖర్ చంద్రు కెమెరా పనితనం మాత్రం ఇంప్రెస్ అయ్యేలా ఉంది. ఆయన తీసిన విజువల్స్, కొన్ని షాట్స్ చాలా బాగున్నాయి.
ఇక సంగీత దర్శకుడు కిరణ్ రవీంద్రనాధ్ అందించిన సంగీతం పర్వాలేదనిపిస్తోంది. కొన్ని ఎమోషనల్ సన్నివేశాల్లో నేపధ్య సంగీతం బాగుంది. ఎడిటర్ పనితనం కూడా ఆకట్టుకుంది. మంజునాధ్‌ వి. కందుకూర్‌ నిర్మాణ విలువులు బాగున్నాయి.
తీర్పు :నరేష్‌ కుమార్‌ దర్శకత్వంలో చేతన్‌ మద్దినేని, కౌశిక్‌ ఓరా జంటగా వచ్చిన ఈ చిత్రం కాన్సెప్ట్ పరంగా అలాగే కొన్ని కామెడీ సన్నివేశల పరంగా బాగానే ఆకట్టుకున్నా.. సినిమా మాత్రం ఆసక్తికరంగా సాగలేదు. కథనం సింపుల్ గా ఉండటం, సినిమాలో కొన్ని కీలకమైన సీన్స్ కు సరైన లాజిక్స్ లేకపోవడం, సినిమాలో ఉన్న బలమైన సంఘర్షణను పూర్తి స్థాయిలో వాడుకోలేకపోవడం వంటి అంశాలు సినిమాకి బలహీనుతలుగా నిలుస్తాయి. అయితే హీరో చేతన్‌ మద్దినేని – వెన్నెల కిశోర్ కాంబినేషన్ సీన్స్ మరియు పోసానితో నడిచే సీన్స్ ప్రేక్షకులను అలరిస్తాయి. మరి ఇలాంటి చిత్రాన్ని తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు ఎంతవరకు ఆదరిస్తారనేది చూడాలి.

Even as early as about five minutes into Maaran, it’s hard to care. The craft seems to belong in a bad TV serial, and the dialogues and performances don't help either. During these opening minutes, you get journalist Sathyamoorthy (Ramki) rambling on about publishing the ‘truth’, while it gets established that his wife is pregnant and ready to deliver ANY SECOND. A pregnant wife on the cusp of delivery in our 'commercial' cinema means that the bad men with sickles are in the vicinity and ready to pounce.   Kuthiraivaal Movie Review:  Manoj Leonel Jahson and Shyam Sunder’s directorial debut Kuthiraivaal brims with colours and striking imagery. This is apparent as early as its first scene, where its protagonist Saravanan alias Freud squirms in his bed, suspecting a bad omen. As some light fills his aesthetic apartment wrapped with vintage wall colours, his discomfort finally makes sense—for he has woken up with a horse’s tail!   H Vinoth's Valimai begins with a series of chain-snatching incidents and smuggling committed by masked men on bikes in Chennai. The public is up in arms against the police force, who are clueless. In an internal monologue, the police chief (Selva) wishes for a super cop to prevent such crimes. The action then cuts to Madurai, where a temple procession is underway.then we are introduced to ACP Arjun (Ajith Kumar), the film’s protagonist, whose introduction is intercut with scenes from the procession. Like a God who is held up high, we see this character rising up from the depths. In short, a whistle-worthy hero-introduction scene. We expect that Vinoth has done away with the mandatory fan service given his star's stature and will get around to making the film he wanted to make.
