Action Movie Synopsis: An Indian army officer goes after the mastermind behind a terror attack that also resulted in personal loss to him.

Action Movie Review: Sundar C's Action is a handful of action set pieces, set in exotic locales (Istanbul, London, Lahore), strung together by a semblance of plot. This isn't a bad idea per se. We only have to look at the Fast & Furious movies - where the plot was in service of the action - to realise that this approach can result in an entertaining film. The film opens with an action sequence set in Istanbul, with ludicrous stunt and even more ludicrous hero glorifying lines - "Avan vandha option illa action dhaan"; "Unmaya thedi aaraayiram kilometre vandhavan unna thedi ara kilometre vara maataana?". Your reaction to Action is decided in this very sequence. If you dig the corniness of the lines and the OTT-ness of the stunts, then you might be able to enjoy the film. If not, tough luck!

The plot revolves around Colonel Subhash (Vishal), the son of a chief minister (Pala Karuppaiah), who has to track down the people behind the dastardly terror attack that has led to the death of his fiancée (Aishwarya Lekshmi, in her Tamil debut) and his elder brother (Ramki). Lending him a helping hand is Diya (Tamannaah), his army colleague, who also fancies him.

While this one-line plot, which makes Subhash's mission both patriotic and personal, offers the possibility of an emotional anchor for all of the film's action scenes, sadly, the writing, which is simplistic and filled with corny dialogues, doesn't bring these emotions to the fore (unlike in the case of the recent Bollywood film War, which was also a globe-trotting action adventure involving military officers and terrorists). Instead, what we get are visuals that seem to have been edited by a restless two-year-old. In addition to the rapid cuts, the editor also makes the visuals blurry, perhaps to resemble the fogginess of memories. But what this approach does is dilute the intensity of the emotions.

As for the action scenes - the film's very reason for existence - they are a mixed bag. On one hand, we get a thrilling chase on the streets of London - it begins as a chase on foot, turns into a car chase (we even get a tense moment involving kids crossing the road), and then a parkour-like display in a ghetto and culminates in a cliffhanger. This segment is the film's highlight. But the rest of the action sequences are pretty standard, with gravity-defying moves, and often lack spatial coherence.

The final act is clearly a letdown. Given all the buildup, we expect a strong antagonist who might prove to be more than a match to the protagonists, but what we get is a weak villain, who gets easily outwitted in his own den - Pakistan, where else!

Star Cast: விஷால் கிருஷ்ணா, தமன்னா, கபீர் துஹன் சிங், ஐஸ்வர்யா லக்ஷ்மி, அகனக்ஷ புரி Director: சுந்தர் சி சென்னை : விஷால் மற்றும் சுந்தர் .சி இணையும் மூன்றாவது படம் இதுவாகும். இதுவரை இவர்கள் மதகஜ ராஜா மற்றும் ஆம்பள படங்களில் ஒன்றாக பணியாற்றியுள்ளனர் .ஆம்பள படம் ரிலீஸாகி நல்ல வரவேற்பை பெற்றது, மதகஜ ராஜா படம் பல பிரச்சனைகளால் இன்றளவும் ரிலீஸாகவில்லை . ஆனால் ஆக்ஷன் படம் ஒரு பக்கா பிளான் போட்டு , குறிப்பிட்ட தேதியில் துவங்கி மிக குறைத்த நாட்களில் ஷூட்டிங் முடிக்கப் பட்டு தயாரிப்பாளரை ஆச்சரிய படுத்திய படம். இந்த பிளானிங் எக்சிகுஷன் எல்லாம் சுந்தர் சி அவர்களது அனுபவமும் திறமையும் மட்டுமே சாத்தியப்படுத்தி இருக்கிறது .

இந்திய காமாண்டோவாக நடித்திருக்கிறார் விஷால், பலரின் தீய செயல்களால் அவரது குடும்பம் பாதிப்படைகிறது. அது ஏன் நடந்தது ,எதற்கு நடந்தது என்று துப்பறிய துப்பாறிவாளனாக வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு கிளம்பும் விஷால், அங்கு மற்றொரு அன்டர்கவர் ஏஜென்டான தமன்னாவை சந்திக்கிறார். அங்கிருந்து இருவரும் ஒன்றாக பல பிரச்சனைகளுக்கு இடையில் பயணிக்கின்றனர் . பல ஆக்சன் காட்சிகள் படத்தில் இருப்பதினாலேயே படத்திற்கு ஆக்சன் என்று தலைப்பு வைத்திருக்கிறார் சுந்தர்.சி ,ஆனால் படத்தின் குறைகளே அந்த ஆக்சன் காட்சிகள் தான் ,படத்தில் வர கூடிய பல ஆக்சன் காட்சிகளை டூப் போட்டே எடுத்து இருக்கின்றனர், அதை எடுத்துவிட்டு 'பேஸ் மார்பிங்' எனப்பபடும் முறையில் முகத்தை மாற்றியிருக்கின்றனர், அது பல இடங்களில் பச்சையாக தெரிந்து விடுகிறது .

கதை ஓரளவுக்கு விருவிருப்பாக இருந்தாலும் சம்மந்தம் இல்லாமல் வரும் பாடல்களை தவிர்த்திருக்கலாம். படத்தில் சுபாஷ் என்ற கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்திருக்கும் விஷால் பல காட்சிகளில் கனகச்சிதமாக பொருந்தியிருக்கிறார், இரும்புத்திரை படத்திற்கு பிறகு மிலிட்டரி அதிகாரி வேடத்தில் சரியாக இருக்கிறார். அவரின் பாடிலேங்குவேஜும் படத்தை நிமிர்ந்து பார்க்க வைத்திருக்கிறது . இந்த படத்தில் பாராட்டியே ஆக வேண்டும் என்றால் அது ஸ்டண்ட் மாஸ்டர்களான அன்பு அறிவு இருவரையும் தான். தேசிய விருது பெற்ற இந்த இருவருக்கும் இது ஒரு பொற்காலம் என்றே சொல்லலாம். நல்ல சண்டை காட்சிகள் நிரம்பிய படங்கள் இவர்களுக்கு தேடி வந்து அமைகிறது . அவர்களது மெனக்கெடல் கடுமையான உழைப்பு பல இடங்களில் தெரிகிறது. விநாயகர் சீரியலில் பார்வதி வேஷம் போட்ட பதுமை தான் அகன்ஷா , ஆனால் அடி கொடுப்பதிலும் அடி வாங்குவதிலும் அமர்களப்படுத்திருக்கிறார் . அகன்ஷாவிற்கு காஸ்ட்யூம் டிசைன் செய்தவர்கள் மிகவும் நேர்த்தியாக செய்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

ராம்கி மற்றும் சாயா சிங் பார்பதற்குஅழகு , குறைந்த காட்சிகளே தோன்றினாலும் சிறப்பான நடிப்பை வெளிப்படுத்த கூடிய நல்ல வாய்ப்பை அழகாக பயன்படுத்தி உள்ளார்கள். சாயா போன்ற நடிகைகளை இன்னும் நல்ல கதாபாத்திரங்களுக்கு பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும் தமிழ் சினிமா. வாவ் ஃபேக்டர் இந்த படத்தில் என்னவென்றால் விஷாலுடன் போட்டிபோட்டு சண்டை காட்சிகள் நடித்த தம்மன்னா ... பத்ரியின் வசனங்களுக்கு ஒரு சபாஷ் போடலாம் . சுந்தர் சி டீம் என்றால் பத்ரியின் பங்கு கண்டிப்பாக இருக்கும் , இந்த ஆக்ஷன் படத்துக்கும் என்ன தேவையோ , அதற்கு தகுந்தாற்போல் டச்சிங்கான வார்த்தைகளும் தெறிக்கவிடும் சவாலான சரவெடி வசனங்களையும் எழுதி இருக்கிறார். மொத்தத்தில் விஜயகாந்த் கடந்த காலத்தில் செய்த வேலைகளை மீண்டும் தூசி தட்டி சூர்யா, விஷால் போன்றோர் செய்து வருகின்றனர்.

பல்ப்ஸ்: எந்த லாஜிக்கும் இல்லாமல், தமன்னாவுடன் பாட்டு பாடிக் கொண்டே பாகிஸ்தான் பார்டரை கடப்பதெல்லாம் என்ன நியாயம் பாஸ். தமன்னாவை மிலிட்டரி உடையிலும் கவர்ச்சியாத்தான் காட்டணுமா மிஸ்டர் சுந்தர். சி. உங்க கலா ரசிப்புத்தன்மைக்கு அளவே இல்லாம போய்க்கிட்டு இருக்கு. எவ்வளவு தீவிரவாதிகள் சுட்டாலும், ஹீரோ மேல ஒரு குண்டு கூட படாதுங்கற தமிழ் சினிமா லாஜிக்கை மீண்டும் இந்த படத்திலும் வைத்து வெறுப்பேத்திருக்காங்க. அவங்களாம் துப்பாக்கி பயிற்சி பண்ணவே மாட்டாங்களா? விஜய்சேதுபதி இன்ட்ரோல தமிழ் ரசிகர்களுக்கு புரியணும்னு எல்லாரும் தமிழில் பேசியிருக்காங்க சொன்னாலும், அந்த தீவிரவாதிகள் பேசுற தமிழும், நாயகி ஐஸ்வர்யா லட்சுமி பேசுற தமிழும் எப்படி தான் சகித்துக் கொள்வதென்றே தெரியவில்லை.

ஒசாமா பின்லேடன் மாறுவேட போட்டியில் விஷால் கலந்துகிட்ட மாதிரி அந்த பதான் லுக் போஸ்டரை பார்த்த சிரிப்பு வந்துடுச்சி, தியேட்டரில் போய் பார்த்தா, தியேட்டரை விழுந்து விழுந்து சிரிக்குது. நமக்கு எது செட்டாகுமோ அதை ட்ரை பண்ணலாமே! மொத்தத்தில் 55 கோடி பட்ஜெட்டில் அதிக செலவு செஞ்சு எடுக்கப்பட்ட விஷாலின் ஆக்‌ஷன் படமும் பழைய நம்பியார் காலத்து பழி வாங்குதல் சப்ஜெக்ட் தான். ஆக்‌ஷன் காட்சிகளுக்கு மெனக்கெட்ட இயக்குநர் சுந்தர். சி திரைக்கதையிலும் கவனம் செலுத்தியிருக்கலாம்.
