Synopsis: After Eeyo fall heads over heels in love and gets married, he faces a problem he least expected to encounter


Review: When you watch an Omar Lulu film, you go expecting unabashed sex jokes and at least some misogyny. Dhamaka is about a young groom who cannot consummate the marriage, but is surprisingly low on the sex jokes. The film is not devoid of them, but the 'performance'-related comedy is pared down to a few mandatory ones -a football commentary, a Bahubali clip and a 'I had almost got to the climax of that film' statement from Eeyo's sister when he irritatedly puts off the TV - and lead actor Arun Kumar deserves credit for making his situation with emotion, rather than making them sleazy. The film has a welcome maturity thanks to this.

Also, having a mature cast, comprising Mukesh and Urvashi as parents who provide a twist of their own, and Innocent gives the movie an emotional heft.

The relationships are all well-written. In today's world of depression and mental health issues, the film shows that most problems can be resolved with love and the right attitude.

The film considers issues like quick-fix solutions, ageism and also our language, and calls for a rethinking on these. Nikki Galrani instinctively says in a moment of irritation, 'I said that because I thought you were a man', and immediately regrets it. It's time our notions about several things, including government hospitals, changed.

Arun Kumar, who started out as a child artiste, makes a decent return to acting. Nikki Galrani carries off her role well, and so does Dharmajan as Eeyo's friend.

Of course, this is a light-hearted look at impotency, so don't expect the feel of, say Dasharatham where an immature rich guy wants a child by hook or by crook, but is all about the emotional turmoil. Omar Lulu can't totally do away with the sexy clothes and the shots of bare legs.

Watch the movie if you crave a light movie with a nice touch of sensitivity.

പുതുവർഷം പിറന്ന് രണ്ടാമത്തെ ദിവസംതന്നെ 2020 ലെ ആദ്യ മലയാള സിനിമ പ്രദർശനത്തിനെത്തി. വർഷത്തിലെ എന്നല്ല ദശാബ്ദത്തിലെ തന്നെ ആദ്യ സിനിമയായാണ് ഒമർ ലുലുവിന്റെ ധമാക്ക റിലീസ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഒമർ ലുലു എന്ന് കേൾക്കുമ്പോൾ നല്ലൊരു ശതമാനം ആളുകളുടെ ചുണ്ടിൽ വിരിയുന്ന ഒരു വികാരമുണ്ട്. ധമാക്ക എന്ന പേര് കേൾക്കുമ്പോൾ അത് ഉജ്ജ്വലമാവുന്നുമുണ്ടാവും. എന്തായാലും ഈ രണ്ട് വികാരങ്ങളോടും നീതി പുലർത്തുന്ന വിധത്തിൽ തന്നെയാണ് സിനിമയുടെ പോക്ക്.

ഒളിമ്പ്യൻ അന്തോണി ആദത്തിൽ ബാല താരമായി വന്ന് സ്‌കേറ്റിങ് പെർഫോമൻസിലൂടെ ശ്രദ്ധ നേടിയ അരുൺ ആണ് ധമാക്കയിലെ നായകൻ. യുവ എന്ന എഫ്എം പ്രോഗ്രാമിലൂടെ ആർജെ ശംഭു അരുണിനെ പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന 'വറൈറ്റിയിലൂടെ' ആണ് ധമാക്ക തുടങ്ങുന്നത്. തുടർന്ന് ധർമ്മജന്റെ ശിവ വരുന്നു. ഒമർ സ്വയം ട്രോളുന്ന ഡയലോഗിടുന്നു. ആദ്യമേ പറയാല്ലോ ശോകമാണ് അരുണിന്റെ കാര്യം. അത്യാവശ്യം സ്മാർട്നെസ്സ് ഒക്കെ ആവശ്യമുള്ള ഒരു ക്യാരക്റ്റർ ആയിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ പയ്യൻ നശിപ്പിച്ചു പണ്ടാരടങ്ങി കളഞ്ഞു. ഡബിൾ മീനിംഗ് പറയാനും വേണമല്ലോ ഒരു എനർജി. ബാലു വർഗീസിന്റെയൊക്കെ വില അറിയുന്നത് ഇങ്ങനെയാണ്.

ഗോപി സുന്ദറിനെ അഴിഞ്ഞാടാൻ വിട്ടുകൊണ്ടുള്ള ധാരാളം പാട്ടുകൾ ധമാക്കയിൽ ഉടനീളം വാരി വിതറിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കളറുകൾ വാരിയെറിഞ്ഞ് കൊണ്ടുള്ള ശബ്ദമുഖരിത കോലാഹലങ്ങൾ. ഇതിനിടയിൽ നിലവാരം തീരെ കുറഞ്ഞ വളിപ്പുകളുടെ കുത്തൊഴുക്ക് കൂടി ആവുമ്പോൾ ധമാക്ക നല്ലൊരു പരിധി വരെ അസഹനീയമാണ്. നിക്കി ഗൽറാണിയാണ് നായിക. ഉടലിന് പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട് വേറെയും ഒരുപാട് നടികളെ അണിനിരത്തുന്നത് ആർക്കെങ്കിലുമൊക്കെ ആനന്ദം പകരുന്നുണ്ടാവും. ശാലിൻ സോയ, നേഹ സക്‌സേന തുടങ്ങിയ പേരുകൾ സിനിമയിൽ കാണാം. ഹരീഷ് കണാരന്റെയും സലിം കുമാറിന്റെയും റോളുകൾ നന്നായിട്ടുണ്ട്. സർക്കാർ ആശുപത്രികളെ പ്രൊമോട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്ന അവസാനഭാഗവും പടത്തിന്റെ പൊതുനിലവാരത്തിനപ്പുറമുള്ള പോസിറ്റീവാണ്.
