Jarugandi






Quite annoyed with the troubles of living the life of a lower middle-class person, Satya (Jai) decides to go to any extent to make money to run his family, which involves mother and sister. Along with his friend Paari (Daniel), he meets Samuel (Ilavarasu), who promises to provide him money if he can forge documents. Satya and Paari open a travel company and start dreaming of a happy life. But a cop (Bose Venkat), who knows about the fake documents, threatens to put them in jail if they fail to arrange a sum of ₹10 lakh in two days. 

Satya sends his family away and starts searching for money with Paari. Gajendra (Robo Shankar), a rich man who's madly in love with Keerthi (Reba Monica), offers to give them the money but only if they help him succeed in his romance. However, circumstances force Satya to kidnap Keerthi, which earns him the wrath of a human trafficking group.

With a wafer-thin plot, which is developed through a slew of characters, Jarugandi has some engaging moments, but that isn't enough to hold your attention completely. We hardly empathise with the troubles that the characters face. The lead pair, Jai and Reba, play their part well, and so does Daniel, who scores more with his histrionics. Robo Shankar lights up the mood in some scenes while other actors are OK. A better screenplay, with gripping characters and thrilling moments, would have made the movie more interesting.




எப்படியாவது வசதி வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்ந்துவிட வேண்டுமென ஆசைப்படும் நடுத்தர குடும்ப இளைஞனாக சத்யா (ஜெய்). தன் நண்பன் பாரியின் (டேனியல்) உதவியால் வங்கியில் பொய் சொல்லி கடன் பெற்று 'ஜில் ஜில்' டிராவல்ஸ் என்ற ஒன்றை ஆரம்பிக்கிறார். இவர்களின் பித்தலாட்ட வேலையைத் தெரிந்துகொண்ட போலீஸ் அதிகாரி போஸ் வெங்கட், தன்னுடைய பங்காக 10 லட்சம் பணம் கேட்டு மிரட்டுகிறார். இந்தச் சமயத்தில் இவர்களுக்கு 'கோடீஸ்வரன்' கஜேந்திரனின் (ரோபோ சங்கர்) நட்பு கிடைக்கிறது. தன்னுடைய காதலி ரெபா மோனிகா ஜானுடன் சேர்த்துவைத்தால் பணம் தருவதாக வாக்குக் கொடுக்கிறார், ரோபோ சங்கர். இதைத் தொடர்ந்து, ரெபாவின் கடத்தலில் ஈடுபடும் இந்த இருவரும், பல இக்கட்டான சூழலில் சிக்குகிறார்கள். சிக்கிய பிறகுதான், அது சிலந்தி வலையென இவர்களுக்குத் தெரிய வருகிறது. அதற்குப் பின் அடுக்கடுக்காக ஏற்படும் பிரச்னைகளிலிருந்து எப்படி வெளியே வருகிறார்கள் என்பதே 'ஜருகண்டி'யின் மீதிக் கதை. 



கடன் பெறும்போது காட்டும் பாவமான நடிப்பு, பிரச்னைகளில் சிக்கும்போது வெளிப்படுத்தும் பரபர நடிப்பு, அடிதடி சண்டைகளில் வெளிப்படுத்தும் மாஸ் நடிப்பு... இப்படித் தனித் தனியே ஜெய்யின் நடிப்பை குறிப்பிட்டுச் சொல்ல ஆசைதான். ஆனால், வழக்கம்போல் அதே பாவமான முக ரியாக்‌ஷனோடு நடித்திருக்கிறார் ஜெய். ஆக்‌ஷன் காட்சிகளில் இவரின் கண்கள் மட்டுமே மிரட்டுகிறது. ஆனால், ஜெய்க்கு இது பக்கா கமர்ஷியல் பேக்கேஜ். ரோபோ சங்கருக்கும் டேனியலுக்கும் இது முக்கியமான படம். முதல் பாதி முழுவதும் இடம்பெறும் டேனிக்கு, காமெடியில் பல இடங்களில் ஸ்கோப் இருந்தும் அதை முழுமையாகச் செய்ய தவறவிட்டார். ஆனால், இரண்டாம் பாதியில் பல சீரியஸான காட்சிகளை ஈஸியாகக் கடத்த டேனியின் எக்ஸ்ப்ரஷன்களே போதும். ரோபோ சங்கர் அதே வழக்கமான பாணியில் வந்து காமெடி செய்கிறார். சில இடங்களில் சிரிப்பு வந்தாலும், பல இடங்களில் அது 'வருவேனா' என அடம்பிடிக்கிறது. 


அறிமுக நடிகையாக, ரெபா மோனிகா ஜான். முதல் படம் என்கிற பதற்றம் இல்லாமல், கதைக்கேற்ற நடிப்பை அளவெடுத்து நடித்திருக்கிறார். இவர்களைத் தவிர கடன் பெற்றுத் தருபவராக வரும் இளவரசு, போலீஸ் அதிகாரியாக நடித்த போஸ் வெங்கட், ட்ரஸ்ட் உரிமையாளராக நடித்த ஜி.எம்.குமார், அடியாளாக நடித்த ஜெயகுமார், வில்லன் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்த அமித் திவாரி என அனைவரும் அவர்கள் வரும் இடங்களில் திகட்டாத நடிப்பை வெளிப்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார்கள்

Maaran

Even as early as about five minutes into Maaran, it’s hard to care. The craft seems to belong in a bad TV serial, and the dialogues and performances don't help either. During these opening minutes, you get journalist Sathyamoorthy (Ramki) rambling on about publishing the ‘truth’, while it gets established that his wife is pregnant and ready to deliver ANY SECOND. A pregnant wife on the cusp of delivery in our 'commercial' cinema means that the bad men with sickles are in the vicinity and ready to pounce. Sometimes, it almost feels like they wait around for women to get pregnant, so they can strike. When the expected happens—as it does throughout this cliché-ridden film—you feel no shock. The real shock is when you realise that the director credits belong to the filmmaker who gave us Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, that the film stars Dhanush, from whom we have come to expect better, much better. Gangubai Kathiawadi
