Story: Shadhika has to travel to Chennai for a personal chore of clandestine nature. But before she can reach Chennai danger strikes Shadhika.

Review: Cochin Shadhi At Chennai 03, directed by Manjith Divakar, is a bilingual social, crime-thriller.

The film tries hard to gaze over several important social issues that require immediate attention, serial rape being the issue that the film attempts to focus on. However, the movie, for the larger portion, ends up being tone-deaf and insensitive to the crime by being graphic and gory just for the sake of it. And then, when the rapists get a peppy item song to sing and dance to, the film objectively trivialises the issue at hand in a whimsical appeasement of mass entertainment factors.

Shadhika, who is pregnant out of wedlock, needs to travel to Chennai for medical consultation. But the journey turns fatal for her. Cochin Shadhi At Chennai 03 is the story of what happens to her in the journey.

Cochin Shadhi At Chennai 03 film is graphic and gory just for the sake of it. And neither does the story have any natural sense of progression. The film delves quite superficially with every character in the narrative. The performances, that of Charmila, RK Suresh, Neha Saxena and the rest are all average or below. Shivaji Guruvayoor is entirely wasted in the plot. The film is inconsistent in all aspects, down to even the subtitles that appear and disappear in its own accord. Largely taking place in Chennai, the film has a principally Tamil speaking cast and very little Malayalam. And it also does a half-baked version of Tamil movie sensibilities from the the 80s cop movies where the hero's machismo drives the narrative. But sadly they don't even manage to do the genre any justice.

The cinematography of Cochin Shadhi At Chennai 03 is the only solace at offer to the audience. When it isn't graphically brutal, the movie offers some good frames and visuals.

Cochin Shadhi At Chennai 03 is a cringe-fest you can avoid without a second thought. It has nothing new to offer, making it stale wine in an old bottle.

കുറെ കാലമായി ഈ സിനിമയുടെ പോസ്റ്റർ കേരളത്തിലെ റോഡ് സൈഡിലെ ചുമരുകളിൽ കാണാൻ തുടങ്ങിയിട്ട് . ടൈറ്റിൽ ഫോണ്ടിന്റെ ഡിസൈൻ ഓവർകിടു ആയതിനാൽ പേരങ്ങാട്ട് ശരിയ്ക്ക് വായിക്കാൻ തിരിഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ല . ഈയാഴ്ച സംഭവം റിലീസായി എറണാകുളം സംഗീതയിൽ നിന്ന് കാണാനിടയായപ്പഴാണ് സിനിമയുടെ പേര് വ്യക്തമായി കിട്ടിയത് . കൊച്ചിൻ ശാദി അറ്റ് ചെന്നൈ 03. അടിപൊളി !

 

ശാദിയ എന്നുപേരുള്ള കൗമാരക്കാരിയായ മകളും ലക്ഷ്മി എന്ന അമ്മയും തമ്മിലുള്ള അതിവൈകാരിക സംഭാഷണങ്ങളോടെ ആണ് സിനിമ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത് . പെണ്ണ് ചെന്നൈയിലേക്ക് പോവാനിറങ്ങുകയാണ് . അമ്മ ഈ നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലൊന്നും കേൾക്കാത്ത തരം ആവലാതികളോടെ അവളെ യാത്രയാക്കുന്നു.

കൊച്ചിയിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ശാദിയായുടെ ചെന്നൈയിലെ ദിനങ്ങളാവും സംവിധായകൻ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് ഇപ്പൊ നമ്മൾ ചിന്തിക്കും . അതിനിടയിൽ ഫ്ലാഷ്ബാക്കിലെന്ന വണ്ണം ശാദിയയും രാഹുൽ എന്നൊരു ചെക്കനും തമ്മിലുള്ള പ്രണയം ഹൃദയം കൈമാറൽ യുഗ്മഗാനം ഒക്കെ വരും . ചെക്കൻ ഉടായിപ്പ് ആണെന്ന്, കാണുന്ന എല്ലാർക്കും മനസിലാവുമെങ്കിലും നായകിയ്ക്ക് മാത്രം പിടികിട്ടൂല്ല . പിന്നെ സ്വാഭാവികമായും ഗർഭത്തിന്റെ വരവാണ് .എഴുപതുകളുടെയും എണ്പതുകളുടേയുമൊക്കെ ആഗോള പ്രതിസന്ധിയായിരുന്ന അവിഹിതഗർഭം മുന്നിലിട്ട് നമ്മളെ കുറെ കരയിക്കും സംവിധായകൻ .

ക്ളീഷെയിൽ വെരകി കാൽഭാഗമായപ്പോഴേ അടിച്ചിട്ട് കഴിഞ്ഞ സ്ഥിതിക്ക് ഇനിയെന്ത് എന്നൊരു ചോദ്യം മുന്നോട്ടുയരും . പക്ഷെ , പിന്നീടങ്ങോട്ട് ശാദിയയെയും കൊണ്ട് സിനിമയും സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റും പോകുന്ന വഴികൾ കണ്ടാൽ കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് തള്ളിപ്പോകും . ചെന്നൈയിലെത്തിയ ശാദി, അമ്പത്തൂരും തിരുമംഗലവും ഒക്കെ തെരഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നു . ശാദിയക്കാണെങ്കിൽ നമ്മളൊട്ടും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാത്ത ദുരനുഭവങ്ങളാണ് നേരിടേണ്ടി വരുന്നത് .

ശാദിയ യുടെ കാര്യം മാത്രമല്ല സിനിമയുടെ കാര്യവും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ . സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റ് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നത് റിജേഷ് ഭാസ്ക്കർ എന്നൊക്കെ സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റിൽ കാണുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അങ്ങനെ ഒരു സാധനത്തിന്റ സാന്നിധ്യം ഒട്ടും അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നേയില്ല . സംവിധായകന് തോന്നുന്ന വഴിയൊക്കെ അത് പോകുന്നു . മഞ്ജിത് ദിവാകർ ആണ് സംവിധായകൻ . ഡി ഓ പി അയ്യപ്പൻ . എഡിറ്റിങ് ബിജിലേഷ് . സാധാരണ ഇത്തരം ചെറിയ പടങ്ങളിൽ കാണാറുള്ള അതിഭീകരമായ അമേച്വറിഷ്‌നെസ് ഈ പടത്തിൽ കാണുന്നില്ല . പഴയ മട്ടിൽ ആണെങ്കിലും ഒരു സിനിമ എടുക്കാനുള്ള മരുന്നൊക്കെ സംവിധായകനും ടീമിനും ഉണ്ട് . എന്നാൽ സ്ക്രിപ്റ്റിൽ ആണ് മൊത്തം പ്രശ്നം .
