Kanni Maadam Movie Synopsis: The life of a Madurai-based girl, who elopes to Chennai, turns topsy-turvy after her boyfriend passes away

Kanni Maadam Movie Review: We are living in a time where the number of honour killing and related crimes are witnessing an alarming rise. Kanni Maadam narrates the tale of a Madurai-based couple who runs for their life to Chennai as the relatives of the boy are quite enraged by their act. When both of them start a new life slowly and steadily, a tragedy hits them in the form of a road accident. Malar (Saya Devi) takes quite some time to come to terms with Kathir’s (Vishnu) demise, but struggles hard to come up in life when she realizes that she is going to be a mother. Two auto rickshaw drivers, who live nearby her home, come he her rescue (Sreeram and Murugadoss). How she faces various challenges from different quarters form the rest of the story.

The film showcases the agony faced by those who suffer because of caste pride realistically. The positive aspect of the film is the performance by the actors, especially the female lead, essayed by Saya Devi. Sreeram and Vishnu, too, play their part well while Murugadoss shines in some of the comic scenes. A parallel romantic track involving two auto drivers (Sreeram and Velina) are decent. However, it is the overdose of melodrama which lets the film down. The lacklustre screenplay doesn’t engage after a point. The running time, too, tests patience.

சென்னையில் ஆட்டோ ஓட்டும் ஶ்ரீராமும் முருகதாஸும் உறவினர்கள். ஊரில் வசதியாக வாழ்ந்த இவர்கள் இங்கு ஆட்டோ ஓட்டுவதற்கு பின்னணியில், பிளாஷ்பேக் ஒன்று இருக்கிறது. ஒரு நாள் அதிகாலையில் ஶ்ரீராமின் ஆட்டோவில் ஏறுகிறார்கள், ஊரை விட்டுச் சென்னை வரும் காதல் ஜோடி விஷ்ணுவும் சாயாதேவியும். இருவரும் ஶ்ரீராம், முருகதாஸ் வீட்டின் அருகிலே குடி வருகிறார்கள். இதற்கிடையில், பணக்கார விஷ்ணுவை தேடி அவரது தாய்மாமாவும் அவர் ஆட்களும் சென்னை வருகிறார்கள். சாயாதேவியை கொன்று விட்டு, விஷ்ணுவை அழைத்துச் செல்வது அவர்கள் திட்டம்.

ஹீரோ ஶ்ரீராமுக்கு, உள்ளுக்குள் இருக்கும் சோகத்தை முகத்தில் காட்டும் கேரக்டர். அதை கச்சிதமாகவே செய்கிறார். காதலர்கள் என தெரிந்ததும் உதவுவது, தனியாகிவிட்ட சாயாதேவிக்காக மனிதாபிமானத்தோடு வீடு எடுத்துக்கொடுப்பது, தன்னைக் காதலிக்கும் வலினாவின் உணர்வை புரிந்துகொண்டு தவிர்ப்பது என அமைதியாகவே நடித்து, கடக்கிறார். வலுவான கேரக்டர் சாயாதேவிக்கு. அவருக்கு இதுதான் முதல் படம் என்று சத்தியம் செய்தால் கூட யாரும் நம்பமாட்டார்கள். முதிர்ச்சியான நடிப்பு. தமிழில் ஒரு ரவுண்ட் வர வாய்ப்பிருக்கிறது. ஆடுகளம் முருகதாஸ் காமெடி ஏரியாவை கவனித்துக் கொள்கிறார். சில இடங்களில் அவரது காமெடிக்கு அள்ளுக்கிறது அப்ளாஸ். ரோபோ சங்கரின் மனைவி பிரியங்கா, கவுன்சிலராகவும் ஹவுஸ் ஓனராகவும் வந்து கலக்குகிறார். அவரது மிரட்டலும் உருட்டலும் அசத்தல்.

முதல் பாதியில் மட்டுமே வந்தாலும் மனதில் நிற்கிறார் விஷ்ணு. நடிப்பு ஆசையில் இருக்கும் சூப்பர்குட் சுப்பிரமணி, ஆட்டோ டிரைவராக வந்து காதலை, மனதுக்குள் புதைக்கும் வலினா, சாதிவெறியுடன் அலையும் கஜராஜ் என அனைவரும் கச்சிதமான தேர்வு. ஹரி சாயின் பின்னணி இசையும் ஹரிஷ் ஜெ இனியனின் ஒளிப்பதிவும் கதையோடு பயணிக்க உதவுகிறது. சாதிவெறி கொடுமையை பல படங்களில் பார்த்திருந்தாலும் இந்த கிளைமாக்ஸ் அதிர்ச்சி கொடுக்கிறது. கதையில் கவனம் செலுத்திய இயக்குனர் திரைக்கதையில் இன்னும் சுவாரஸ்யம் கூட்டியிருக்கலாம் என்பது போன்ற குறைகள் இருந்தாலும் இயக்குனருக்கு முதல் படம் என்பதால் அதை விட்டுவிடலாம். ஏனென்றால், சாதி வெறிகளுக்கு எதிரான எத்தனை படம் எடுத்தாலும் அத்தனையும் தேவையாகத்தானே இருக்கிறது.

  Kuthiraivaal Movie Review:  Manoj Leonel Jahson and Shyam Sunder’s directorial debut Kuthiraivaal brims with colours and striking imagery. This is apparent as early as its first scene, where its protagonist Saravanan alias Freud squirms in his bed, suspecting a bad omen. As some light fills his aesthetic apartment wrapped with vintage wall colours, his discomfort finally makes sense—for he has woken up with a horse’s tail!   H Vinoth's Valimai begins with a series of chain-snatching incidents and smuggling committed by masked men on bikes in Chennai. The public is up in arms against the police force, who are clueless. In an internal monologue, the police chief (Selva) wishes for a super cop to prevent such crimes. The action then cuts to Madurai, where a temple procession is underway.then we are introduced to ACP Arjun (Ajith Kumar), the film’s protagonist, whose introduction is intercut with scenes from the procession. Like a God who is held up high, we see this character rising up from the depths. In short, a whistle-worthy hero-introduction scene. We expect that Vinoth has done away with the mandatory fan service given his star's stature and will get around to making the film he wanted to make.
